Founded in 1947 as a family run business, Bakker’s Zaadteelt & Zaadhandel b.v. (short = Baza) traded principally as supplier to professional growers of vegetables and herbs. The business developed in the 1980ies by focusing on the supply of seeds for hobby gardeners through retail chains, to the major high street supermarkets and DIY outlets such as Albert Heijn, Spar, C1000, Jumbo, Bigg Boss, Hubo a.s.o..
In the 90ies the company developed a client loyalty program with a group of retailers, Groenwoudt and Nieuwe Weme Supermarkets. These activities widened the horizon to gardening tools, pottery, plants and more outdoor products. In 2007 the company turned back to its roots, creating everything with seeds as a prime component. Newly developed concepts for herbs, mini gardens and gifts, rapidly developed our business internationally. Not only Europe; our new concepts have also opened new markets such as Japan and South-Africa. In 2009 the company moved to the present head office in a new business area in Heiloo (30 km North of Amsterdam) where we built a modern office and warehouse, with great natural atmosphere for our creative team.
The company is still a 100% family owned business and has a sound financial status.
